We just returned from a three night stay at the Jeu de Paume. We reserved an upgraded room and were in room 206. This room had a king size bed (actually two twins together), TV, two stuffed chairs and a closet. We paid 230 Euro. The room was very clean and had a window opening onto an outside courtyard… great fresh air. The room was 12×12 foot ( I stepped it off). The bathroom was great, all marble and very clean. The king sized heated towel bar really helped dry out our socks and under garments when we did wash). There were other guests in the hotel and I could occasionally hear muffled phone conversations… but nothing at all bothersome. The days we were in Paris, the temps were 16C/ around 60F. When we got back to the hotel at night, it was warm in the room, making me think that summers may be unconfortable. I have no idea if there is air conditioning, opening the window was enough to cool it down. The staff were great… always very freindly and helpful. We spoke essentially no french and they were always gracious to us. When we asked for some information on train reservations, the guy on duty dropped what he was doing, logged into a web site and pulled up all the information, showed us teh best trains and printed the schedules out for us… way more that we expected. Breakfast was pricey, but we were on the “trip of a lifetime” so indulged in the luxury. The lobby and public areas were very nice, interesting, comfortable; the building is very historic. The location is *fantastic*… Ile St. Louis is a quiet little neighborhood of restaurants, shops. It was so great to linger over a late dinner and have a short stroll home. Berthillon Ice cream isn’t the best in Paris, it is the best in the world :) and it’s about 10 doors down the street. It is a short walk to either bank or to Notre Dame.
We are already planning to go back again!

We stayed here for 2 nights in July as part of a 2 week trip in France and were very happy with the choice of hotel.
The rooms were small but well appointed, there is a bar, outside terrace and a lot of history attached the place. The best part however was the location – you are slap bang in the middle of the rue ile st louis and could not be better placed for seeing Paris. Latin quarter is 5-10 mins away; notre dame is 5 mins away and the street where the hotel is based has SO many shops; restaurants, cafes that you could in all honesty jsut stay on the island! The shops on the street include a good deal of speciality shops (cheese, olive oil, jewellary, local produce) and we found these more than suitable for all pressies to take home – plus a few bits of cheese and wine for ourselves ;) They also organised a special champagne breakfast with flowers for a birthday for us at short notice and booked a beautiful meal for us in the evening to celebrate at a great restaurant (la place de michel if my memory serves me well). It isnt cheap ($220 i think for a double and $159 for a single excluding breakfast) but if its a one off trip and you want a good time then this is perfect and very parisien; which makes a change from what the average hotel chains have to offer..
