The Île Saint-Louis is actually made up of two islets: the Île aux Vaches and the Île Notre-Dame. The urbanization of the islets by 1614 led to the contruction fot the Pont-Marie, the quays and the angular streets. The majestic quayside façades are incredibly beatiful the the rue Saint-Louis-en-l’île still seems to belong to another era. You will find cozy restaurants and amaszing ice cream parlors here. But besides all these, the island is a spot within the city away from the noise of it. This makes it the perfect spot for romantic lovers, wondering around the island’s balconies, steps and riverbanks…

Book an orginal Hotel in Paris

Of all the hotels in Paris’s delightful rue St-Louis-en-l’Ile, this is the most original. Whereas the others are homely, the Jeu de Paume packs a stylish punch.
As its name implies, the building was the site of a 17thC jeu de paume court, built in the days when the ‘palm game’, forerunner to tennis, was all the rage; when the proprietors acquired it in the 1980s, however, it was a run-down warehouse. M Prache is an architect and he wrought something of a miracle on the building, opening out the heart of it right up to the roof, exposing all the old timber construction and slinging mezzanine floors around a central well. The impression of light and transparency is reinforced by a glass-walled lift and glass balustrades around the upper floors. Stone walls and all those beams add a reasurringly rustic feel. The sitting area has the appearance of a sophisticated private apartment, with leather sofas, subtle lighting and handsome stone fireplace. Nearby, at the reception desk, the chic, laid-back staff coolly deal with the guests while a modish golden retriever called Scoop pads around.

Book a historic hotel in Paris

With an attractively discreet courtyard entrance, original 17th-century beams, private garden and a unique timbered breakfast room that was once a real tennis court built under Louis XIII, this really is a most charming hotel. It’s now filled with an expertly slung-together array of modern and classical art. A dramatic glass lift and catwalks lead to the bedrooms, which are simple and tasteful, and lined with Pierre Frey fabric walls.

Charming Hotel on Saint Louis Island

This hotel is all about location: a hotel on an island in the middle of Paris!
We wanted to stay in one of their apartments (we were there with the whole family) but it was sold out so we booked two rooms close to each other.
The people were very nice, they answered our questions about things to see and places to go. It was easy to get around because there isn’t something more “in the center” than this area.
The hotel was clean and the beams over our heads were very cute.

A lovely location, close to many major sites & the Metro, & within walking distance of interesting neighbourhoods. Staff were friendly & helpful & multi-lingual. The hotel had a wonderful historic atmosphere, but the room was nothing exceptional for the price so it must reflect the location & historical value of the property.

Book a room in a romantic hotel in Paris

From Charles Berg

A thoroughly delightful location. We enjoyed not only the charm and friendly personalized service of the hotel, but the quaint and quiet location, in the middle of the Seine yet away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. Good restaurants and all services were just steps away, and all the major sites were easy to get to from here. The rooms were small but perfectly comfortable, and the fresh roses in the room were certainly a nice touch. We would definitely stay there again.

Hotel romantique sur l’Ile Saint Louis

From Serina – Fodor’s

I am wondering if the previous rating is about the same hotel that I’ve stayed at. It was a nice hotel. We especially liked the area: on an island in the center of Paris?! How cool is that?
